Henry Lin
Henry Lin is an undergraduate student at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa. He is currently majoring in Biomedical Sciences along the Pre-Medicine track and minoring in Computer Science. His interests focus on cardiovascular pathology, research into the cellular mechanisms of cardiac pathology and clinical treatments, and computer programming.
His current research is dedicated to discovering how the dysregulation of Sorbs2, a cytoskeletal adapter protein, affects cardiovascular pathology and vice versa in the McLendon Research Laboratory under the guidance of Dr. Jared McLendon in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Experimental Therapeutics, College of Pharmacy, University of Iowa.
Henry aspires to continue his education in medical school and pursue a medical career eventually becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. In pursuit of medicine, he has obtained a certificate as an emergency medical technician, assisting with patient transport, and continued patient care.
He has been awarded the ACRC Fellowship as well as the Independent Creative Research by Undergraduate Fellowship to fund his research, as well as the Iowa Flagship Award for his undergraduate education. He was also awarded the Roy J. Carver Scholarship for overcoming significant obstacles to continue his undergraduate education.
